Doctors of naturopathy work as primary care physicians and all are licensed graduates of a naturopathic medical school. Your naturopathy studies at these graduate level schools will last for about four years. Your coursework will include the basic sciences with an emphasis on holistic and nontoxic approaches to therapy. Specifically, courses include:

Health and wellness promotion

  • Counseling
  • Aging and the elderly
  • Psychological assessment
  • Pathology and disease states
  • Nutritional therapeutics

Upon graduating from a naturopathic medical school, youíll have to take your stateís professional board exam. By passing this exam youíll be licensed by your state as a general practice physician.
